Domestic Truth Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization working in Houston & surrounding areas to provide activities and services for Domestic Violence Victims. Some of our main goals are to spread awareness of the many injustices in the judicial system in regard to domestic violence by lobbying for real meaningful change. Some of our missions include getting help to those affected by DV situations through safety awareness & skill classes, self-defense & tactical training, clothing & food assistance, and providing physical & informative resources for them to get back on their feet with as much help as possible.

We put all our efforts into what we do in hopes to provide victims with the tools needed for a successful transition. We invite volunteers over the age of 14 without a chaperone and anyone under the age of 14 with a chaperone may volunteer. We invite anyone from any race, religion, or gender to volunteer and engage with our clients remotely, online, and in person through one of our various services.

After we receive your application, we will contact you and arrange for an interview via ZOOM or by phone with our volunteer coordinator. All information on this form will be kept confidential and will help us find the perfect volunteer project for you. Please be advised that, since we work with a vulnerable population and clientele list, you may be subject to a criminal background check, depending on the project we have you assigned to. We will advise how this may be done in the most efficient way upon application approval.

*We will require a copy of your ID on file*

About the Program

The Domestic Truth Foundation proudly presents the community art program, Healing Through Art. Designed to offer a safe and supportive environment for victims of domestic violence, this program allows participants to engage in art activities with the aim of building self-esteem, fostering creativity, and offering healing benefits.

Art therapy is known to improve mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, increasing self-esteem, and promoting emotional resilience. It is also a powerful form of expression for people who have experienced trauma, helping them to process emotions and experiences in a non-verbal way.

Our Mission

Through this program, we aim to provide participants with a sense of accomplishment and pride through creative activities. We believe that art offers a fun and engaging way for individuals to express themselves. The program serves as a sanctuary where participants can feel secure, valued, and part of a supportive community.

Our Schedule

  1. Children’s Art Night (Ages 5-12) – TBA
  2. Young Adults Art Night (Ages 13-17) – TBA
  3. Family Art Night – TBA
  4. Adults Art Night (Adults without Children) – TBA

Each session will focus on different art activities, from drawing and painting to pottery, in an environment designed to be safe and fun.

Support the Program

Your generous contribution to The Domestic Truth Foundation’s community art program will directly support victims of domestic violence, providing them with essential opportunities to express themselves, build self-esteem, and find joy through creative activities. By funding this program, you will be helping to create a supportive and healing environment for children, families, and adults affected by domestic violence.
